If so, the Sport Performance Science degree at East Carolina University is perfect for you! The Sport Performance Science program prepares students to become professionals who optimize human performance through evidence-based training, testing, and recovery strategies. With a strong foundation in exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, sport psychology, analytical skills, and sport technology, graduates are equipped to work with athletes, military personnel, and tactical individuals and teams to enhance performance, reduce injury risk, and support long-term development across a variety of competitive and professional environments.

Our diverse learning experiences, including lectures, labs, modern data analytics training, and practical applications such as field-based internships, distinguish the Sport Performance Science degree from other programs. The uniqueness of the SPS degree involves the many “hands on” opportunities available to students combined with the application of sound data analytics principles throughout the curriculum.


Admission Requirements

A minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and 32 s.h. of general education coursework are required for admission to the program.


Program Requirements

A minimum grade of C (2.0) is needed in all required KINE courses for successful completion of the degree. The degree requires the student to declare an approved minor or professional certificate.

Student Opportunities and Experiences

Students can participate in several student orgs, clubs, and experiences including, the KINE Majors Club, internships with ECU Athletics, Sport Science study abroad experiences, etc.  Students also have opportunities to engage in experiential learning working on applied sport science projects with our renowned faculty!
