Early Educator Support Office at ECU Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need to enroll with the Early Educator Support Unit in Raleigh?

All lead NC Pre-K or Developmental Day teachers employed by a nonpublic site are required to enroll in with the Early Educator Support Unit in Raleigh.

Why do NC Pre-K teachers in nonpublic sites receive Early Educator Support services?

All lead NC Pre-K and Developmental Day teachers are required to hold NC Birth-Kindergarten licensure.  The Early Education Support Unit and Offices provide all services needed to acquire and maintain licensure.  These services include but are not limited to: licensure application and qualification, qualification as an NC Pre-K teacher, staff development, mentoring and evaluation as required by NC Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

The purpose of the Early Educator Support Office is to increase teacher effectiveness in order to improve outcomes for children’s learning.

I have enrolled in the Early Educator Support Unit but have not been contacted to receive Mentor and Evaluator services from the Early Educator Support Office.

Teachers must have complete enrollment with the Early Educator Support Unit and have applied for their license on the DPI website in order to be assigned services by the Early Educator Support Office at ECU.  If you have an Incomplete Enrollment status, you will not be assigned services.  It is important that you refer to the items that are indicated missing on your Incomplete Enrollment Letter and submit them ASAP.

Teachers whose licenses are applied for after December 1 of the school year will not receive services from the Early Educator Support Office at ECU until the following year as DPI requires 6 months of service for the year to count on the teacher’s license.
