Getting Started

Congratulations!

You have been hired as a lead teacher in an NC Pre-Kindergarten or Developmental Day program (or serve as site administrator to a newly hired teacher).

While this is an exciting step in your teaching career, you probably have many questions about what to do next. Follow the guide below to determine your next steps towards receiving services from the Early Educator Support office at ECU which are required for your BK license.

Phase 1:   You must first complete the enrollment packet using the link found in the Resources section below. It is important to gather and submit all required documents, including an original transcript. Submitting an incomplete packet delays the Licensure process.  During this phase, respond promptly to all emails requesting more information

Phase 2:  You have now completed enrollment and are waiting to be contacted by the Early Educator Support Office at ECU.   While waiting for services to begin, watch the ‘Getting Started with EES’ video included in your welcome email.

Phase 3:  You have received a welcome email from the Early Educator Support office at ECU, which means you will be assigned mentoring and evaluation services.   Although you will receive support from your mentor and/or evaluator, it is extremely important to be actively involved in the Teacher Evaluation Process.  As the teacher, you are ultimately responsible for your teaching license.  The first step of Phase 3 will include getting started on the NCTEP training process.  Watch for an email with instructions for Accessing NCEdCloud and NCTEP Part One.

*Site administrators are a vital part of the teacher’s support team and are encouraged to collaborate in all parts of the teacher licensure process
