HHP Advising - Information for Students

How do I make an appointment with my Advisor?

Students may schedule an individual appointment with their advisor by going through your Pirate Port – “Tools” – “Scheduler”.

How do I know which courses I need to take?

Schedule Planner is a new tool for students to use when planning their course schedules.  This tool allows students to enter their desired courses to create the perfect schedule based on their individual needs.  Students can use this tool from anywhere on any device through PiratePort/Banner Self Service. Also utilize DegreeWorks when determining which courses are needed for your particular degree program. To view the four year plan or required courses for your major click on you degree program that you are enrolled in on our Academic Programs page.

How do I register for classes?

Currently enrolled students may use Banner Self Service through Pirate Port to register for courses.

How do I add or drop a class after registration closes?

Go to Banner Self Service in Pirate Port, click the “Registration” link and then click the “Add or Drop Classes” link.  You need to contact your Advisor if you wish to drop a class after the open “Drop/Add” period is over.

What can I do if my grades are not very good?

ECU provides a number of resources to support student success. These resources include the Pirate Academic Success Center, The University Writing Center (UWC), and the Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD). Additional support with academic, personal, or social issues and concerns, assistance in adjusting to university life, and support in the event of a personal, medical or family emergency is offered through the Dean of Students. Students can reach the Dean of Students Office at 252.328.9297 or by visiting them in 125 Umstead Hall.
