About D.O.C.C.: Drop Off Child Care
The D.O.C.C. (Drop Off Child Care) is a university affiliated drop-off childcare program located on East Carolina University’s campus. The program focuses on providing developmentally appropriate drop-off childcare to families within the ECU community. We prioritize teaching every child in our care respect, kindness, and self-control in an environment with fewer distractions, more movement, and relational learning.

Our mission is to provide high quality and dependable drop-off childcare during traditional and non-traditional hours to ECU staff, faculty, and student parents.

About Darden D.O.C.C.
The Darden D.O.C.C. is an ECU-affiliated drop-off childcare program located in the Nancy Darden Center on ECU’s campus. The D.O.C.C. at Darden is designed to assist ECU faculty, staff, and student parents by providing childcare during the evening hours, serving ages 1-8 years of age. Starting January 13, 2025, the Darden D.O.C.C. will operate on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The D.O.C.C. at Darden follows ECU’s academic calendar and closures.
Reservation Details
There are a total of 20 spaces available each evening.
• 10 spaces are reserved for enrolled COMPASS participants.
• 10 spaces are open to ECU students, staff, and faculty.
• If all spaces are full on the day you’re trying to reserve, please email docc@ecu.edu to be added to the waitlist.
Pricing
Find your affiliation with ECU to determine your price below.
Your total should reflect your affiliation to ECU, how many children you are signing up, and how many days you are paying for.
• COMPASS Student Parents
Children are free.
• Student Parents
First child is $10 per day + $5 for each additional child per day.
• Faculty, Staff, and other ECU Affiliated Parents
First child is $30 per day + $15 for each additional child per day.

Space Details
Located in the Nancy Darden Child Development Center (NDCDC) inside the Rivers Building, this facility is NAEYC-accredited (National Association for the Education of Young Children) and holds a 5-star rating from the Division of Child Development and Early Education. The classrooms are Reggio Emilia-inspired, filled with ample play materials and equipment.
About Joyner D.O.C.C.
The Joyner D.O.C.C. is an ECU-affiliated drop-off childcare program located in Joyner Library (Room 2102) on ECU’s campus. This program is designed to support ECU student parents by providing free drop-off childcare during the day. Children must be 18 months or older.
Beginning January 13, 2025, the Joyner D.O.C.C. operates Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am- 12:45 pm. The program follows closely ECU’s academic Calendar and closures.

How to Book

You only need to fill out the form once for your child(ren), up to 3 children on
one application.

Each day and child must be booked separately.
You may book up to 2 weeks in advance.
Space Details
Located in the Family Study Room of Joyner Library, this service is an extension of the Drop Off Child Care at Darden, following similar practices and offering developmentally appropriate toys and activities for the children.

The D.O.C.C. is licensed by the state of North Carolina to provide care for children aged 1 year and older. It is the responsibility of the parent/caregiver to provide accurate birthdates of all your children on the enrollment documentation. The D.O.C.C. is not liable for children under 1 year of age.
Cancellation Policy
To maintain good standing, please cancel your scheduled drop-off through your bookings confirmation email, email docc@ecu.edu, or by phone at (252) 737-2731.
