Professional Development Assistance Program Application


Through the generous support of donors, the College of Health and Human Performance (HHP) provides support to graduate and undergraduate students who students who are interested in professional development opportunities that will help them in advance in their field of study and meet their career goals. Funds are awarded through the HHP Professional Development Assistance Program and will only be awarded when the HHP Professional Development Assistance Program budget permits. Applications for these funds are reviewed by the HHP Scholarship and Student Support Committee.

HHP Professional Development Assistance Program funds can offset costs related to:

Attending a conference (priority given to students presenting research or a session at the conference; serving in a leadership role; or otherwise having an activity role at the conference)

Registration fees, lodging, transportation (mileage), poster printing cost

Becoming a member of a professional association

Professional Association membership fees/dues that are required to attend a conference or that make conference attendance less expensive will be prioritized for support.

Participating in a professional development activity (other than a conference)

Registration fees, lodging, transportation (mileage), poster printing cost,

Obtaining fieldwork/internship

Expenses incurred during the fieldwork/internship are not eligible for support through the HHP Professional Development Assistance Program

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to apply for HHP Professional Development Assistance Program, applicants must be the eligibility criteria listed below.

-Applicants must be currently enrolled and have declared their major as a degree program offered by the College of Health and Human Performance

-Applicants must be in good academic standing and meet the minimum GPA requirement. Graduate students must have at least a 3.25 GPA and undergraduate students must have at least a 2.75 GPA.

-Applicants must register for the event or opportunity using their ECU email address and representing the ECU College of Health and Human Performance or a unit within the College of Health and Human Performance (i.e. Department of Health Education and Promotion, Department of Human Development and Family Science, Department of Interior Design and Merchandising, Department of Kinesiology, Department of Recreation Sciences, School of Social Work, Air Force ROTC, and/or Army ROTC.
