My favorite hobbies include horticulture and botany. I have been involved in RTSS at ECU.
What brought you to ECU?
I decided to come to ECU because it was close to home and it offered the degree I was searching for. I grew up not far from Greenville so it felt like home coming here.
Why do you want to enter the field of Recreational Therapy?
I entered the field of recreational therapy because I knew it would be something I would love. Recreational therapy has so many different facets and applications that you can always do something new everyday.

I am currently interning at Caswell Developmental Center in Kinston, NC. Caswell is a home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
What is your favorite aspect of Recreational Therapy?
The ability to bring joy to people.

Because of COVID, many of my core RT classes were online. However, the course that I believe taught me the most was psychosocial and Cognitive Interventions. My favorite professors in the RT program are Mrs. Whistner, Dr. Loy, Mrs. Burnworth, and Dr. Fish.

I plan on looking for a job serving IDD or geriatric communities.
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself or your passion for Recreational Therapy?
To me, RT can make a bigger difference in someone’s life than anything else.
