Featured Alumna: Aisha Powell

Aisha Powell is a two-time ECU alumna who received her B.S. in Family Community Services in 2011 and her M.S. in Child Development and Family Relations in 2013. After earning her master’s degree, she stayed at ECU as a staff member and most recently joined ECU’s College of Business in 2016 as the assistant director of undergraduate programs.

In addition to advising, she coordinates the COB Peer Mentor Program and previously coordinated the College’s Living Learning Community. Powell also serves as the Chair-Elect on ECU’s Staff Senate.

Aisha is passionate about serving communities through collaborative partnerships and relationship building. Her interests are public policy, mentoring, civic and community engagement, and women’s health. She is the founder of ICFITTGirls, an online social support group that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle to lower the risks associated with heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer. In addition, she is the CEO of Aisha Powell, LLC where she serves as a consultant for different community and national organizations to improve program outcomes and social justice initiatives. Aisha also served as a council member to the North Carolina Black Women’s Roundtable.

Aisha tells us, “Both ECU and HHP provided me with experiences to broaden my knowledge and skills to work with individuals, families and communities. As a professional, I am able to foster positive student educational experiences, serve in the community, and be a part of ECU’s commitment to regional transformation.”

Aisha’s advice for future students? “Be open to new experiences, take advantage of your resources, and embody ECU’s motto, Servire.
