Pinto extends icon visibility to Concord

Impact of the Accessible Icon Pirate Challenge has spread to a major city in the western part of the state, thanks to Lydia Pinto.

A story on the website of the Cannon School, a college preparatory school in Concord where Pinto attended, details how the East Carolina University health and human performance alum and recreational therapy graduate student used initiative and her influence at the Cannon School to update parking icons on its campus.

In April of 2022 was when ECU heightened its implementation and awareness to this icon behind the leadership of Dr. David Loy, joined by Pinto and other students. Pinto was profiled by ECU News Services in spring 2023 when she received her bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy.
