Balanay earns Scholar Teacher Award
ECU’s Office for Faculty Excellence recognized Dr. Jo Anne Balanay with an ECU Scholar Teacher Award for her effective integration of research into teaching. Balanay is a professor in the Department of Health Education and Promotion and national leader in research to caution and protect outdoor workers in high-heat environments.
A graphic about the award highlighted that Balanay builds synergy between her research lab and field work, teaching and student mentoring — all focused on reducing health hazards in occupational settings. Dr. Mostafa Namian with the Department of Construction Management also won the award.
The ECU Scholar Teacher Award recognizes faculty members who effectively integrate research and/or creative activity with teaching. Join in to hear the award recipients (Sept. 12, 11 a.m.-noon) share about how they weave these important faculty roles together, as well as provide a glimpse into their work.
