ECU Research and Creative Activity Week highlights

The College of Health and Human Performance was well-represented during East Carolina University’s Research and Creative Activity Week and awards. Some highlights:

  • The Department of Kinesiology had 20 undergraduate posters, five graduate posters and four graduate podium presentations. KINE department chair Tony Kulas said it was great to see these students presenting their research to the ECU community.  This strong showing is not only a testament to great students, but also to HHP’s great faculty mentors.
  • Undergraduate student Jade McNeill was present for the awards ceremony and was honored for a podium presentation award in multidisciplines, titled: “Amplifying Our Voices: Exploring Black Women Student Leaders Experiences at East Carolina University.”
  • Luke Boldt, undergraduate student, earned a poster award in biomedical sciences, titled: “MADCAM-1 and TNF-a Expression Reduced in GPR4 Knockout Mice Given Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Immunotherapy.
  • Also in the Department of Health Education and Promotion, the following faculty members were recognized as mentors, moderators and judges: Jo Anne Balanay, Leslie Cofie, Lori Ann Eldridge, Guy Iverson, Stephanie Richards, Alice Richman, Kelli Russell, Susan Sousan, Avian White, Lei Xu.
