ECU at Southeast sports medicine conference

East Carolina University Department of Kinesiology representatives traveled in full force from Greenville, North Carolina, to Greenville, South Carolina, for the Southeast American College of Sports Medicine conference. The ECU Student Government Association and the Kinesiology Fund for Excellence provided financial support for these impactful student experiences.

Some highlights from the conference:

  • There were eight presentations with representation from undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programs.
    • Undergraduate presenters: Ashby Dickerson (health fitness specialist), Kendall Nelson (exercise physiology).
    • Master’s presenters: Rebekah Bergquist and Trent Hohenstreiter (sport and exercise psychology concentration).
    • PhD in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science presenters: Kara Kern, Dylan Steen, Taylor Kinney, Brittany Roenker and Coni Heinemann.
  • The ECU undergraduate student quiz bowl team finished 11th out of 32 teams this year. The team included Kendall Nelson, Ashby Dickerson and Delaney Brumback.
  • Faculty co-authors and mentors on these student presentations:  Dr. Bhibha Das, Dr. Zachary Domire, Dr. Nicholas Murray, Dr. Katrina Dubose, Patrick Rider and Dr. Linda May.
