Commencement celebrates the many achievements of our students. It is also a time for us to reflect on the contributions faculty and staff have made to the programs and processes that help to facilitate student achievements. Each semester, we honor a member of the College of Health and Human Performance family who has evidenced a strong commitment to student success or other aspects of the HHP mission, by selecting them to serve as the college flag-bearer at the ECU Commencement Ceremony.
Our College of Health and Human Performance flag represents a group of individuals committed to ECU’s values of integrity, respect, rational inquiry and personal excellence, and that is focused on fostering health and well-being at all levels of society. Tina Marie Devlin will do a great job in continuing this HHP tradition.
She is an enthusiastic and engaging teaching instructor of public health, a board member for the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing and a master certified health education specialist with an extensive background in her field and managing health and wellness programs. Devlin’s contributions to student success include a 2022 Honored Instructor Award from ECU Campus Living. Perhaps best summarizing her impact with students, however, is in the multiple nominations submitted by her students for this honor, including one nomination note that said Devlin, “represents what a good, genuine professor is and she represents the College of Health and Human Performance well. She shows her knowledge and passion for public health every day in the classroom, or just seeing her around the building. You can also see how she genuinely cares for students in academics and real-life situations. She is always there to lend a hand when you need help or just need to talk. She is one of the best professors I have ever had, and if anyone deserves this, it’s her!”
