Insight into two HHP published articles
Highlighting recent published articles involving East Carolina University College of Health and Human Performance faculty members:
“Windows & mirrors but mostly windows: Early childhood administrators view on diverse books”
This is the first paper in a planned series. Dr. Archana Hegde, professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science, noted the interdisciplinary aspect of the work.
Author Paige Averett represents N.C. State’s School of Social Work and among ECU authors Hegde, Dr. Anne Ticknor, Madison Alexander and Lanie Philips Holmes, the team consists of social work, education and HDFS faculty members, one Honors College student and one HDFS graduate student, who is now an ECU alum.
“Qualitative Analysis of the Kids B.E.A.R. Pain Protocol: An Interdisciplinary Approach”
Dr. Lori Ann Eldridge, assistant professor in the Department of Health Education and Promotion, had work published in the Therapeutic Recreation Journal. Eldridge noted that qualitative study highlights the Kids B.E.A.R. Pain Protocol, an innovative, interdisciplinary approach developed through collaboration among public health, child psychology and recreational therapy professionals. Key findings emphasize the powerful role of psychosocial support in pain management. Analysis underscores the value of integrating therapeutic recreation into pediatric pain management and calls for expanded implementation and research.
