JHU Press podcast on Latinx research experiences
Dr. Joseph Lee, the College of Health and Human Performance’s associate dean for research, and ECU alum Sneha Amaresh are among national experts in Latinx research analysis and they were featured in a prominent podcast.
Stemming from the popularity of an article authored by Amaresh, Lee and their colleague Raúl Gámez with the University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University Press hosted the authors for a podcast about related research experiences.
Their article, “Exploring Undergraduate Research Experiences for Latinx College Students From Farmworker Families,” published in 2022 in the Journal of College Student Development and has been one of the top articles to read throughout this year among Hopkins Press journal articles. Their article, which was the most-read in May, remains free to read through September.
JHU Press noted that Amaresh, who is pursuing her Master of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta after earning a bachelor’s degree in public health from ECU, has a strong passion for qualitative research focusing on the social determinants of health, environmental health and social justice. Lee is the McGee Professor of Health Education and Promotion within HHP and noted his research seeks to document, understand and reduce unfairness in health by building evidence for policy interventions that make a difference.
