Continuing accreditation for recreational therapy
East Carolina University’s Bachelor of Science in recreational therapy program earned continuing accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, which is the leader in the accreditation of health sciences and health professions education.
ECU recreational therapy is in the Department of Recreation Sciences in the College of Health and Human Performance.
A congratulatory social media post from the CAAHEP stated that this distinction directly attributes to graduates who are highly qualified to work alongside healthcare professionals to improve patients’ quality of life. The goal of the ECU recreational therapy program is “to prepare competent entry-level Recreational Therapists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.”
